Main Purpose of Job
The Health Policy Analyst will be responsibile for researching, analyzing, developing and presenting information on public health initiatives, health delivery reform, developing health care services, policies and programs.This position offers legislative regulatory support and represents the Office of the Deputy Secretary of Public Health Services at meetings and conferences.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: One year of experience evaluating, analyzing, researching and developing health care services, policies and programs.
Note:A Master's degree in Health Sciences, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Public Policy or closely related field may be substituted for the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The preferred candidate should have experience in researching, analyzing, developing and presenting policy solutions for public health issues. The candidate should also be able to demonstrate proficiency in establishing frameworks for policy issues; strong communication skills; high level of professionalism; thorough understanding of state legislature process; and strong academic experience to support creative and forward-thinking policy.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS
The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
