Western Maryland - Allegany, Frederick, Garrett and Washington Counties.
Northeast Maryland - Cecil and Kent Counties.
MILEAGE WILL BE REIMBURSED WHEN TRAVELING WITHIN YOUR ASSIGNED REGION
Main Purpose of Job
This is part-time work as an Apiary Inspector, to work approximately 300 hours per season. Activities include the inspection of honey bee colonies for disease and pests and pesticide losses.
POSITION DUTIES
Inspect honey bee colonies for diseases, pests and pesticide losses.
Recommend appropriate measures for honey bee colony management and the control of bee diseases.
Perform record keeping/office work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum Age of 18 Years Old.
SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS
This is specialized work, and a thorough understanding of honey bee colonies and beekeeping programs is required to carry out inspection activities. A minimum of three years of successful, progressively experience in a practical beekeeping program or in beekeeping inspection is required.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
A driver's license valid in Maryland is required.
