Main Purpose of Job
The Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife and Heritage Service, is currently accepting applications for a Seasonal Contractual Field Assistant located at the Wellington Work Center, in Princess Anne, Maryland. The selected candidate will perform a variety of tasks including the maintenance of roads, parking areas, dikes, water control structures, boundaries, vehicles, equipment, watercraft, buildings and grounds. The incumbent will assist with wildlife surveys, population monitoring data collection, habitat improvement projects, and projects in support of hunting opportunities on public properties.
Note: The selected candidate may be required to work occasional odd hours and / or weekends.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: The operation and maintenance of heavy equipment such as farm tractors, farm implements, skid loaders, dozers, and large trucks.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with trapping, banding, population surveys, and / or collection of biological data used to monitor native wildlife populations is preferred but not required.
Working knowledge of wildlife habitat conservation principles and practices is preferred but not required.
