Main Purpose of Job
The Department of Natural Resources, Land Acquisition & Planning Unit, in Annapolis, Maryland is currently accepting applications for a Seasonal Contractual Cartographer. The selected candidate will perform GPS mapping in the field, and compile and prepare GPS cartographic information for inclusion into various projects, cartographic graphics, illustrated reports, website and Trail App applications.
The incumbent must be confortable hiking long distances carrying GPS mapping equipment, and have the ability to stay overnight in government housing during multi-day mapping projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A bachelor’s degree in GPS cartography from an accredited college or university.
Experience: None.
Note: Applicants who do not meet the above educational and experience requirements may substitute the following:
1. Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree in GPS cartography and two years of experience in GPS cartography;
2. Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate and four years of experience in GPS cartography.
