LOCATION OF POSITION

Howard County Health Department, Columbia, MD

Main Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for directing the daily activities and operations of Medical Assistance Transportation Services, while maintaining contract requirements for ambulatory, wheelchair/van, and ambulance services.  While fulfilling the responsibilities of the position, the incumbent always strives to maintain the mission and goals of the Howard County Health Department to preserve, protect, and promote the health of all county residents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Completion of 60 credit hours at an accredited college or university.

Experience: One year of experience in administrative or professional work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute experience as defined above for the required education at the rate of one year of experience for 30 credit hours, for up to 60 credit hours of required education.

2. Candidates may substitute 90 credit hours at an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate will have experience in MA Transportation.  The preferred candidate will also have supervisory experience and experience with excel and databases.  

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.  Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
