Main Purpose of Job

This position requires entry level of licensed work, counseling clients with substance use disorders by using assessment, evaluation, intervention, treatment and rehabilitation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A master’s or doctoral degree in a health or human services counseling field from an accredited college or university approved by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists or completion of a program of studies judged by the Board to be substantially equivalent in subject matter and training.

Experience: None.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. In accordance with Health Occupations Title 17 and Code of Maryland Regulations 10.58.07, candidates placed in this classification must be licensed by the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Licensed Graduate Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LGADC). A copy of your current license must be attached to your application.

2. Employees must successfully obtain licensure from the Board of Professional Counselors and Therapists as a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor within one year of meeting the experience requirements.

3. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in
accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
