LOCATION OF POSITION
Edgewood Enclave
Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD
Main Purpose of Job
The main purpose of this position is to maintain the heating & cooling needs for Buildings E4081 & E4060 and support operations on the Edgewood Enclave. As the only Stationary Engineer at these locations, be responsible for preventative maintenance of a 100bhp Unilux Boiler system, one 30-ton chiller, and all portable heating & cooling units. Support heating & cooling systems throughout the Edgewood Enclave site.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Completion of eighth grade.
Experience: Two years of experience in a boiler room facility tending a boiler.
Notes:
1. Applicants may substitute additional licensed stationary engineering experience on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military experience as a non-commissioned officer in Steelworker classifications or Mechanical Maintenance specialty codes in the Metal Fabrication, Assembly, Installation, and Repair field of work on year-for-year basis for the required experience.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
Employees in this classification must possess and maintain a current license as a Stationary Engineer, First Grade from the State Board of Stationary Engineers.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Some positions in this classification are assigned duties which will require the individual to be examined by a physician. After an offer of employment, applicants for such positions will be given a medical examination to certify the ability to perform the essential job functions.
2. Employees in this classification are subject to random substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulation 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS
The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
