Main Purpose of Job
POSITION DUTIES
Searches for and arrests offenders with open arrest warrants
Determines when requests for search and seizure warrants are appropriate
Prepares clear, complete and accurate investigative reports
Transports parole violators apprehended by allied law enforcement agencies from one jurisdiction to another
Responds to emergencies and renders first aid
May testify in court in connection with arrests made on duty
Performs other related duties
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with 30 semester credit hours in the social, behavioral or correctional sciences.

Experience: None
Note:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate, and four years of law enforcement experience in a municipal, county, state or federal police agency and current police officer certification from the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission may be substituted for the required education.

Formerly certified by the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission as a police officer within the past three years and are eligible for recertification at the time of appointment meet the certification requirement for this classification.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
2. Employees in this classification may be required to bear firearms and to demonstrate practical knowledge and proficiency in the safe use and care of firearms on a periodic basis.
3. Employees are subject to call-in 24 hours a day and, therefore, must provide the employing agency with a telephone number where they can be reached.
4. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
