LOCATION OF POSITION

The Thomas B. Finan Center is located in Cumberland, Maryland.

Main Purpose of Job

Operation of an automotive vehicle for the primary purpose of transporting patients / residents to various community appointments, day treatment facilities, schools, courts and recreational activities. This position interacts with the specific age groups served by this hospital applying Trauma Informed Care & Recovery Model principles. This position is responsible for the loading and distributing of supplies / materials / equipment and maintenance of the assigned vehicle.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: One year of experience operating automotive vehicles transporting passengers, patients or clients.

Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in Vehicle Operations classifications or Motor Transport or Vehicle Operations specialty codes in the passenger transporting field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. 

 

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1.Employees must possess or obtain a Class C non-commercial driver’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

2.Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which involve the operation of large passenger vehicles. Employees assigned these duties will be required to possess a driver’s license of the appropriate class valid in the State of Maryland.

3. Employees in this classification will be required to successfully complete and maintain current certification of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, violence management and basic first aid training.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1.Employees may be subject to call-in 24 hours a day and, therefore, may be required to provide the employer with a telephone number where they can be reached. 2.Some positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the employee to operate a vehicle with a manual transmission. 3.Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
