Introduction

This is a Special Appointment position at the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions. The incumbent will work at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

Main Purpose of Job

This position oversees the operations of the Public Safety and Education Training Center's Physical Training Center.  The Physical Training Coordinator supervises MD Police and Correctional Training Commissions' (MPCTC) staff assigned to the Physical Training Center and MPCTC training programs presented to Police and Correctional Entrance Level Training Programs, as well as in-service training programs.  This position also coordinates and monitors Resident Partner and Allied Agency training programs conducted at the Physical Training Center.

POSITION DUTIES

Some of the duties for this position include:

1) Manages the operations of the Physical Training Center and supervises assigned staff

2) Supervises the delivery of Physical/Defensive Tactics training to law enforcement and correctional recruits

3) Collects and analyzes training data to determine program effectiveness

4) Conduct ongoing research in defensive tactics and physical fitness training to enhance training programs

5) Performs other duties as necessary

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

In order to meet this educational requirement a transcript (Official or Unofficial) must accompany your application. Failure to do so will result in disapproval.

Experience: Four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work.

Notes:

1. Additional experience in administrative staff or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of 30 semester credit hours on a year to year basis for the required general experience.

3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year to year basis for the required education and experience.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of two years of criminal justice related defensive tactics skills experience within the past five years.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle.  Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
