LOCATION OF POSITION

DHMH- Spring Grove Hospital Center, Catonsville, MD.

Main Purpose of Job

This position is the full performance level of work providing clinical services in psychiatry to patients who are mentally ill, chronically ill or developmentally disabled or are in need of medical and preventive treatment. This position is also responsible for delivering psychiatric inpatient services, ie evaluation, treatment, discharge and aftercare planning. This position receives general supervision from a higher level physician or an administrative official and may supervise health care support staff.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Possession of a degree in medicine from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience in the practice of medicine.

Notes:

 1. A Master’s degree in public health from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.

2. Internships and residencies are considered as qualifying medical experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Applicants must be licensed by the Maryland Board of Physicians to practice medicine under Maryland State Law. A copy of the current license must be attached to the application. A copy of your license, license verification or license number and expiration date must be attached to your application.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
