DHMH- Spring Grove Hospital Center, Catonsville, MD.

Main Purpose of Job

This is the managerial level of work assisting the Director of Nursing by directly supervising RN Supervisors (24 hour unit RN) and RN Managers, as designated. This position indirectly supervises subordinate staff, hospital-wide, at a 24/7, State, in-patient, psychiatric facility. This position will perform these duties and provide expert knowledge of principles and practices of administration and of quality health care while planning, organizing, and developing goals, objectives, standards, schedules, policies and procedures, hiring practices, and nursing activities within the assigned units. This position functions in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Services, and has been designated as an essential employee. Although this position is primarily assigned a work schedule of day shift, Monday through Friday, this position will be required to work mandatory weekends, 2nd and 3rd shift, as mandated by the Director of Nursing, designee, and/or management at this facility.

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Education: A Master’s degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Four years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the option for which application is made to include two years in a supervisory, consultative, teaching or administrative capacity.

Note: A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a health-related field from an accredited college or university and six years of experience as a Registered Nurse in the option for which application is made to include four years in a supervisory, consultative, teaching or administrative capacity may be substituted for the required education and experience.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215. A copy of your license, license verification or license number and expiration date must be attached to your application.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Employees in this classification are subject to call-in and, therefore, will be required to provide the facility with a phone number at which they can be reached.

2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
