Main Purpose of Job

Functional knowledge, experience, and demonstrated ability to operate, control, troubleshoot, diagnose, and make appropriate repairs to system problems or emergencies. Maintains competency, proficiency, and licensing requirements via regular training, review, and demonstrated familiarity with OPM manuals, utility plans, emergency response plans, and all applicable safety and licensing requirements. Successfully completes situational or scenario problem solving, and appropriately demonstrates and applies knowledge skills to real problems or emergencies. Commitment to quality customer service and ability to work in-patient and clinical areas adhering to and utilizing applicable infection control procedures.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Completion of eighth grade.

Experience: Two years of experience in a boiler room facility tending a boiler.

Note: Applicants may substitute additional licensed stationary engineering experience on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification must possess and maintain a current license as a Stationary Engineer, First Grade from the State Board of Stationary Engineers. **A current copy of your license must be attached to this application.**

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Some positions in this classification are assigned duties which will require the individual to be examined by a physician. After an offer of employment, applicants for such positions will be given a medical examination to certify the ability to perform the essential job functions.

2. Employees in this classification are subject to random substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulation 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
