Assistant Lottery Regional Manager is lead work in selling and merchandising to retailers for the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency.

Main Purpose of Job

The Assistant Regional Manager position provides advanced level of support to a Lottery Regional Manager. The Assistant Regional Manager is a District Manager and team leader, working within the territories of a specified region. The Assistant Regional assist the Regional Manager by providing leadership in a region and by working with a District Manager to  ensure these sales actions take place: Instant tickets inventory techniques are applied, service calls are followed and completion of various reports, and documents for equipment relocation and removal. Assist Training Manager by mentoring, reviewing and following up on the training of newly hired and tenured sales representatives.

POSITION DUTIES

The Assistant Regional Manager will:

· Visit retailers in an assigned territory on a monthly cycle performing duties and managing responsibilities of District Manager.

· Work with the Regional Manager to develop techniques, strategies, and processes to ensure that instant game management is being executed on a daily basis.

· Work with District Managers in region to assist in monitoring instant game inventory levels at MLGCA retailer locations. Consistent review of all game statuses in the field (i.e. Confirm, In-transit, and Activated).

· Handle follow up on applications for regions which could include ADA inspections, tax, and bond issue with perspective applicant or retailer.

· Provide document management in the absence of the regional; (ARM) will provide regional management in the absence of the regional; excluding leave approval, timesheet signing, disciplinary actions.

· Conduct as needed training on-site for retail locations (i.e. instant game management, accounting, auditing, sales development/merchandising)

· Work with District Managers on in-store promotions or function as supervisor on-site at promotional selling events.

· Assist in training in new District Managers in the region.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Four years of experience selling or marketing a consumer product from a wholesaler or manufacturer to retail outlets for resale to consumers.

Notes:

1. A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing may be substituted for two years of the required experience.

2. Additional experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.

LIMITATIONS ON SELECTION

This is a promotional recruitment limited to current Lottery Sales Representatives with the Maryland State Lottery and Gaming Control Agency. Promotions are limited to Sales Representatives assigned to their respective region.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

BARGAINING UNIT STATUS

The incumbent in this position is a member of a covered bargaining unit and will be required to pay a bi-weekly service fee to the exclusive representative of the bargaining unit.
