Main Purpose of Job
MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement, Public Administration, Education, Emergency Management, and/or related field from an accredited college or university.
EXPERIENCE: Eight years of experience in technical, administrative or professional work.
NOTE: 1. Additional experience in administrative, technical or professional work may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Additional graduate level education at an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience at the rate of 30 semester credit hours for one year of the required experience.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE: Five years of experience managing and developing agency-wide programs to include the oversight and coordination of an operations unit and/or exercising responsibility for the development of policies or procedures.
Three years of experience in Emergency or Critical Incident Management (Incident Command and Hazard Assessment in school settings: Active Shooter, Natural or Man-Made Disasters, Infrastructure [School] Security, and Planned Events.)

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Qualified applicants will be required to submit to an initial drug screen, polygraph examination and background investigation before a permanent appointment can be made. A criminal conviction record may be grounds for rejection of the candidate.
Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
