Introduction
The Maryland Insurance Administration (MIA) is an independent State agency that regulates Maryland’s insurance industry and protects Maryland consumers. There are approximately 1,600 insurance companies and more than 135,000 insurance producers (agents and brokers) that conduct business in the State of Maryland and that impact Maryland citizens who purchase insurance products. Through the diligence of a highly professional staff, the MIA works to facilitate a strong insurance marketplace where consumers are well informed and treated fairly.

Main Purpose of Job
MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology or related field of study.
Experience: Ten (10) years of experience in application development and five (5) years of project management experience or PMI certification.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated knowledge and skills with the following:
- Application development methodologies
- Project Management
- Requirements analysis
- Application design and development
- Database design
- Application testing
- System documentation
- Operational support of production applications and data
- Change Management processes
Expertise working with the following technologies:
- Microsoft Server Operating System
- Apache Web Server
- Java J2EE, JSP
- Microsoft .NET
- Sybase DBMS
- SQL Server DBMS
- SQL programming
- Crystal Reports and / or Business Objects
- Document Management systems
- Workflow Automation systems
Previous experience with the following is highly desired:
- Strategic technology planning
- Financial management for technology projects
- Supervisor responsibilities for technology resources
- Insurance industry
