Main Purpose of Job

This is a contractual position responsible for providing technical assistance, education and leadership to Maryland school meals programs by developing and conducting training of Nutrition Education Programs that support the implementation and education of USDA meal patterns.

POSITION DUTIES

Develops and manages nutrition education activities aligned with USDA regulations  for the new school meals patterns and Dietary Guidelines for Americans to support local educational agencies; leads the development of the nutrition education and professional development strategic training plan for the USDA school meal patterns that includes nutrition education goals or standards, nutrition education lessons, and planning, implementation and evaluation of annual training programs for school systems and institutions; collaborates with nutrition and health educators at the state and local levels to prepare nutrition education training materials and resources and implement activities manages relationships with agencies and organizations to support nutrition education in Maryland schools; analyzes and interprets USDA guidance for school meals to create nutrition education lessons and activities aligned with Maryland’s State curriculum, USDA meal requirements and for comprehensive health education manages sub grants and nutrition education budgets; initiates and manages all special projects.

MINIMUM EDUCATION OR GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Public Health/Administration, Marketing/Business or a related area.

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of professional experience in training, nutrition or health education is required; experience in program administration, developing and managing training or collaborative projects with a variety of stakeholders is preferred.

FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS

Proof of eligibility to work in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act and travel throughout the state are required.  Any misrepresentation of academic or experience requirements for this position may result in non-selection or termination of employment.
