IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
The role of this specialized position is to manage and coordinate Sunshine Line door to door operations. The candidate for this role should have prior experience with transportation programs planning, scheduling, dispatching, vehicle maintenance, and training and safety. The ideal candidate is able to work in a fast pace environment; has strong hands-on leadership, team development, and interpersonal skills; is a quick learner, innovative, takes ownership and able to quickly resolve complex issues with positive outcomes; able to effectively work with a diverse population and bring the best out of others.
Graduation from an accredited four year degree granting college or university; and
Three years of managerial experience in Human Services transportation or public transit operations, one of which must have been in a supervisory capacity; and
Possession of a valid Driver License.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted below; and
Possession of a valid Driver License.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Sitting for extended periods of time. Able to push, pull and lift up to 55 ponds and maneuver a wheelchair up to 600 pounds.
Works in diverse environments. Office environment and work in extreme weather conditions, outdoors.

- Considerable knowledge of scheduling and dispatching concepts and functions.
- Considerable knowledge of funding guidelines, transportation regulations and processes.
- Considerable knowledge of training standards, policies, and procedures related to special needs transportation.
- Considerable knowledge of vehicle mechanical functions and maintenance schedules.
- Advanced skill in the use of scheduling and dispatching software and mobile data communications.
- Advanced skill in working with Special Needs customers and user agencies.
- Ability to use initiative, think independently, and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate for various needs and functions of the organization.
- Ability to effectively motivate and lead team by providing guidance, direction, and purpose.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with others within and outside the organization.
- Ability and willingness to work flexible hours that may vary based on operational needs which may include evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and during extreme weather conditions.

- Manages, oversees, plans, and coordinates Sunshine Line day-to-day operations.
- Ensures efficient and effective delivery of door-to-door transportation services (approx. 200,000 trips per year).
- Assesses resource needs and ensures resources are available to meet service demands; monitors status of allocated funds and controls expenses.
- Analyzes data, implements adjustments to ensure compliance with federal, state, and advisory board guidelines.
- Clarifies and resolves day-to-day issues regarding organizational policies, practices, programs and projects.
- Assesses staffing needs and identifies shortfalls; interviews, recruits and hires new staff.
- Manages and provides leadership for the operations staff including supervisors, schedulers/dispatchers, coordinators, and drivers.
- Conducts discipline at the formal level and ensures performance evaluations and monitoring are being carried out consistently.
- Oversees the driver training (pre-service, recurring, refresher, and reinforcement training) and safety programs and ensures all accidents are properly investigated.
- Manages the vehicle maintenance and replacement program for a fleet of 60 specialized vehicles and ensures the multiple remote parking locations throughout the county are properly maintained.
- Functions as the lead person for emergency evacuations and disaster recovery transportation at the Emergency Operations Center which includes special needs evacuation and dialysis transportation.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Passing a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) prescribed physical examination, have a satisfactory driving record, and pass a background review prior to employment.

- Tuition Reimbursement: Employees may be reimbursed up to $1,000 (undergraduate), $2000 (graduate) per fiscal year for classes at an accredited college or university for courses that enhance your ability to perform your current job duties.
- Holidays: Employees receive up to 12 paid holidays per year.
