Summary Statement

This position with Public Affairs for DNREC will assist in preparation, coordination and staffing special events for the Public Affairs Office during the summer and early fall including outreach events showcasing the entire DNREC department during the Delaware State Fair, Coastal Cleanup and Coast Day. These three events involve planning, coordination of DNREC exhibits, management of event logistics, volunteer coordination, partner coordination, and emergency preparedness, construction of exhibits, production of exhibit materials, publicity, staffing the events, collection of data, reporting and evaluation.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all position in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class.  Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.

  • Set-up, monitoring and clean-up support for special events.
  • Represents the agency in marketing or advertising activities such as meetings or promotional events.
  • Compiles event data and prepares reports.
  • Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:  

  1. Six month experience using Microsoft Office Programs including Outlook, Excel, and Publisher.
  2. Six month experience in coordinating logistics and exhibits for special events.
  3. Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
