Summary Statement

This position will lead rock climbing programs for camps, groups and the public.  Assist with activities for the summer rock climbing camps and aftercare.  Help create and maintain a fun, positive and safe camp environment for campers, staff, and interns. Communicate and interact in a professional manner with supervisor, campers, camper’s parents, and park staff.  Applicants must be available to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Essential Functions

  • Leads multiple rock climbing programs for camps, groups and the public. This can include activities such as top rope climbing, rappelling, bouldering, and canoeing.
  • Ensures a fun, educational and safe environment for participants and staff.
  • Provide general customer service and park information to visitors.
  • Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.
  • Performs other related work as required.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Seasonal Rock Climbing Instructor
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. At least 21 years of age.
  2. Possession of a valid driver’s license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
  3. One year experience with a camp program for children or young adults.
  4. Knowledge of rock climbing through rock climbing training, school/facility in top rope rock climbing, rappelling or equivalent work experience at a gym, rock climbing camps or other specialty groups.
