Summary Statement

The seasonal park maintenance position is responsible for the maintenance of grounds, facilities and equipment in a park or recreation area.  Work is performed indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions.  Some duties may vary for each facility.   This position is required to operate light duty equipment such as trucks, tractors, mowers and other lawn equipment.    Work is performed indoors and outdoors under various weather conditions.   Applicants must be available to work weekends, evenings and holidays as scheduled.  

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all position in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class.  Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.
  • Performs grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, trimming, trail maintenance, landscape bed maintenance, trash removal, vegetation removal, leaf removal and snow/ice removal.  
  • Performs custodial services in restrooms, offices and other buildings. Operation of landscaping equipment and use of hand and power tools.
  • Set-up, monitoring and clean-up support for park programs and special events.
  • Maintains good public relations with park visitors and staff.
  • Provide excellent customer service and park information to visitors.
  • Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills. Maintain a positive attitude.
  • Performs other related work as required.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Seasonal Park Maintenance
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Must be at least 17 years of age.
  2. Experience using landscaping equipment and hand or power tools.
  3. Possession of a valid driver’s license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
