CLERICAL/ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT POSITIONS

The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office seeks dependable, enthusiastic, conscientious candidates with outstanding office support skills for the following entry-level clerical and administrative support positions: 

  • CLERK I 
  • STENOGRAPHER I 
  • CLERK II

The positions are located at various offices throughout Alameda County. Combinations of the following duties are assigned as appropriate for the position with more complex tasks assigned to the higher level positions:

  • Perform receptionist duties 
  • Greet and assist visitors 
  • Answer busy multi-line phones 
  • Pull and refile large calendars 
  • Maintain calendar logs 
  • Data entry 
  • Process documents 
  • Type/file Petitions & prepare files 
  • Type subpoenas 
  • Drop off, pick up and distribute U.S. mail and interoffice mail 
  • Copy, scan and fax documents 
  • Prepare, assemble and maintain DA files 
  • Other duties as necessary

REQUIREMENTS and SALARY:

For Clerk I ($19.39-$22.04 Hourly):
Possession of the required knowledge and abilities required to perform the duties listed above is proof of sufficient education and experience for this position.

For Stenographer I ($19.71-$22.33 Hourly):
Possession of the required knowledge and abilities required to perform the duties listed above is proof of sufficient education and experience for this position.

For Clerk II ($22.04-$24.80 Hourly):
Either I One year full time experience in clerical work. Or II Completion of a post high school clerical training program from a business school, vocational training center, or a clerical internship program which would enable the applicant to acquire the knowledge and abilities required to perform the duties listed above.

Candidates selected must be able to pass a background check prior to appointment.

DESCRIPTION

The Ideal Candidate:
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications stated above, the ideal candidates will possess the following critical characteristics: 

  • Proficient in office support functions and possesses the ability to utilize available technology and office equipment. Experience with databases and the ability to use multi-function devices are desirable. 
  • Maintains effectiveness and remains flexible to accommodate shifting priorities and changes in work assignments 
  • Gains new knowledge quickly and puts it to use in a practical and effective manner 
  • Performs work with accuracy ensuring outstanding work product 
  • Interacts positively with others by relating to a variety of individuals and exhibiting professionalism, understanding, courtesy and tact 
  • Acts proactively to respond quickly to situations or problems without prompting 
  • Appropriately organizes and prioritizes work ensuring efficient completion of assignments
  • Promotes high standards of ethical conduct and maintains confidentiality of sensitive information
