THE AGENCY
Treasurer-Tax Collector Department's mission is to provide County departments and all other depositing agencies with secured and convenient countywide central banking facility and countywide treasury administration services, including the investment of monies on deposit with the Treasurer in the Treasurer's Investment Pool, provide real estate and personal property tax billing and collecting services, provide business licensing services in the unincorporated areas of the County, and provide in-house administration of the County's deferred compensation plan programs for eligible employees.
THE POSITION
This class specification describes a two-level class series located in the Office of the Treasurer-Tax Collector. Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Specialists, under varying levels of supervision, will have close contact with the public, both by telephone and in person, answering questions related to unsecured, secured taxes, business licenses, and business taxes. Unsecured taxes include Current Unsecured and Unsecured Delinquent taxes. Secured taxes include Current Secured, Secure Delinquent and Tax Defaulted Land. Incumbents receive, examine, prepare, process and maintain a variety of documents; assure adherence to legal procedures, collect fees, record, distribute and reproduce copies of documents and perform related duties as required.

THE EXAMINATION WILL CONSIST OF the following steps: 1) A review of candidates' applications to verify possession of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements for the class will move on to the next step in the examination process. 2) A written exam.- pass or fail 3) An oral interview which will be weighted as 100% of the candidate's final examination score. The oral interview may contain situational exercises. CANDIDATES MUST ATTAIN A QUALIFYING RATING ON EACH PORTION OF THIS EXAMINATION. We reserve the right to make changes to the announced examination components.
