The Position

Under close supervision, the Library Departmental Aide performs a variety of general library and clerical tasks in support of library operations and services. This list is for vacancies in all Solano County Library locations: Cordelia, Fairfield, Rio Vista, Suisun, Vacaville, and Vallejo.

This is an Extra Help position.  An employee appointed to an extra help must meet all the requirements of the corresponding regular position. An extra help employee is a person who is employed for the purpose of relieving or augmenting regular staffing in the accomplishment of work.  Extra help employees cannot work more than 999 hours in a fiscal year. Extra help employees are excluded from civil service and shall not have the rights to regular or continued employment.

Experience and Education/Training: No experience required.

Special Requirements: Applicants under 18 years of age mayl be required to secure a work permit before being employed.

Selection Process

Based on the information provided in the application documents and answers to the supplemental questions, the best qualified applicants will be invited for further examination. All applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. Depending upon the number of applications received, the selection process may consist of an initial application screening, a mandatory information meeting, a written and/or practical exam, an oral board exam, or any combination listed. A minimum score of 70% is required to continue in the selection process.

All potential new hires and employees considered for promotion to management, confidential or unrepresented positions will be subject to a background and reference check after contingent job offer is accepted.  These provisions are subject to change.
