Capital Projects Management Division

The Department of General Services assists County departments in achieving their public service mission by providing essential support services through creative, innovative, and sensible business solutions. General Services fosters a collaborative, customer service-oriented culture that strives for continuous improvement.

The Capital Projects Management Division is responsible for managing real estate development and building/improvement projects that house County programs and services using a wide variety of project delivery methods for:

  • New Construction and Additions
  • Alterations and Renovations
  • Building Systems Upgrades  
  • Environmental Monitoring/Remediation
  • Furnishing, Fixtures, and Equipment Modifications 

The Position

The Capital Projects Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of capital improvement projects which include new construction, renovations/additions, space planning, and office remodels while working under the supervision of the Capital Projects Manager.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education: A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent;

AND

Experience: Two years of full-time paid experience in architectural, engineering, real estate property management/development, or managing construction projects with responsibility for cost recommendations, contract administration and quality control.

Note: An AA degree or higher from an accredited college with a major in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Real Estate, Business Administration, Public Administration or a closely related field may be considered in the rating or selection process.

Licensing: A valid California Driver's License, Class C. The possession of certification as a Construction Manager by the Construction Management Association of America's Construction Management Certification Institute; or certified as a Construction Manager accredited by the American National Standards Institute is desired.

BENEFITS

n Solano County offers a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. The County contribution for family coverage for the 2015 calendar year is $1,393.18 per month. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only or who waive medical insurance coverage.  

n Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.  

n Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement and contributes to Social Security.  

n Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first three years. Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year.

n The County observes 12 fixed, paid holidays per year.   

n Employees are eligible to receive an additional 2.5% longevity pay, per level, after the completion of continuous service at 10, 20, 25, and 30 years.

Veterans Preference Points

To be eligible, applicants must have served at least 181 consecutive days of active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States and have received either an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions. A copy of the DD214, showing discharge type, must be received in the Human Resources Department by the final filing date.  

Veteran applicants for initial County employment with an honorable or general discharge under honorable conditions shall have five (5) points added to their combined score.
