The County of Solano is pleased to announce a County-wide promotional opportunity for an Office Assistant III. 

As an Office Assistant III, you will perform complex clerical and administrative support tasks and apply specialized knowledge of departmental, work unit and program procedures, services and methods.

The Position

As an Office Assistant III, you may lead the work of other clerical support staff; perform a variety of complex and advanced clerical work in support of a functional work unit or program; receive and process information, by phone or in person, based upon needs of the programs to which assigned. You will handle a variety of sensitive and/or complex administrative matters using independent judgment in applying established practices and procedures; performs related work as directed.

This is a County-wide promotional recruitment for current County of Solano employees.

The eligible list created as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill full-time and part-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur throughout the County. 

The current vacancy exists in the County Administrator 's Office for a full time regular position.

 POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or GED; supplemented by two (2) years of full-time work experience that demonstrates possession of and competency in the requisite knowledge and abilities.  If assigned to a lead worker position, six (6) months of previous lead worker experience is required.

BENEFITS

Solano County offers a comprehensive benefit package to full and part-time employees which includes a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits offered through CalPERS. The County contributes 75% of the Kaiser family rate for the Bay area for coverage that begins the first of the month following date of hire. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only medical coverage or those who waive medical insurance coverage. Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.

Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement, and contributes to Social Security.

Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 78 full time pay periods (approximately 3 years). Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year. Additionally, the County observes 12 fixed, paid holidays per year.

Selection Process

The written exam for this recruitment is tentatively scheduled for May 12, 2015 .  Qualified candidates will be scheduled by the Department of Human Resources.

Based on the information provided in the application documents, the qualified applicants will be invited for further examination. TYPING AND WORD PROCESSING CERTIFICATES REQUIRED

Typing and Word Processing certificates are required. Candidates that pass the written exam will be invited to the Oral Board interview/exam. Candidates have until the date and time of their scheduled Written Exam to submit both required certificates. Failure to submit the certificates by this date will disqualify you from the recruitment.

WORD PROCESSING CERTIFICATE REQUIRED

An Intermediate Word Processing certificate must show proficiency at 70% or higher.  It may not be more than 12 months old at the time of application, must be from an accredited school or a qualified agency, and must contain the examiner’s signature.  Certificate obtained through the internet (online) will not be accepted.  

Solano County is offering free typing and testing on Word for this recruitment on April 30, 2015. Seating is very limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Independent travel may be required.
