The Position

The Psychiatrist Supervisor supervises Psychiatrists and Mental Health Nurses in the performance of their clinical duties in an Integrated Care Clinic which is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC).  The incumbent develops, leads and directs psychiatric services provided by those supervised.  The incumbent provides direct clinical psychiatric care as a Psychiatrist.  The incumbent helps direct the Quality Improvement Program; assists management in the establishment, maintenance and review of medical policies and procedures for clinical services; and assists management in insuring that the clinic meets medically-related regulatory and legal requirements.   

The Psychiatrist Supervisor is a single-position supervisory level class located within the Department of Health and Social Services, MentalHealth Division, receiving supervision from the Deputy Director, Mental Health.

Successful performance requires the accurate application of current psychiatric practices; effective coordination  with non-County medical systems such as the Kaiser Medical System and the California State Prison; medical consultation with a variety of personnel in other County organizations such as mental health clinics, jails, and child welfare services; and the integration of complex psychiatric-legal issues with clinic practices and procedures.

The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill part-time and full-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur or the need arises.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Training And Experience: Medical Degree (Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited college or university.

and

Successful completion of a psychiatry residency program that is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)  

and

Two years of professional level experience in a clinical/psychiatric practice performing responsible patient evaluations and treatment of clients from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Additional education or training in public health services, public administration and/or clinic management  is desirable.

Licensing/Certification Requirements: 

  • California Drivers License, Class C. 
  • Current and active license to practice medicine in the State of California issued by the Board of Medical Examiners.
  • Valid and current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) license.

Other Requirements:

  • Incumbents will be subject to chemicals, blood, and other body fluids. 
  • Incumbents may also be subject to hazardous physical conditions such as mechanical parts and vibration; atmospheric conditions such as fumes and odors; and environmental conditions such as disruptive people.
  • Independent travel is required.
  • Candidates for employment must, as a condition of employment, sign a statement agreeing to comply with Section 11166 of the California Penal Code relating to child abuse reporting.

BENEFITS

Solano County offers a comprehensive benefit package to full and part-time employees which includes a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits offered through CalPERS. The County contributes 75% of the Kaiser family rate for the Bay area for coverage that begins the first of the month following date of hire. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only medical coverage or those who waive medical insurance coverage. Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County. Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement, and contributes to Social Security.

Administrative leave - 80 hours each July 1st; prorated during the first fiscal year. 

Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 78 full time pay periods (approximately 3 years). Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year. Selection Process
