This is a County-wide promotional recruitment for current County of Solano employees.

The Position

Mental Health Clinicians provide mental health treatment services for mental, emotional and co-occurring disorders, including substance abuse and/or developmental disability and chemical dependency disorders in inpatient or outpatient settings, including assessment, diagnosis, crisis intervention, individual and group counseling, non-medical psychotherapy, and initiation of involuntary holds; provides and oversees both treatment and continuing care; prepares reports and maintains records related to client or client services.

The Mental Health Clinician (Registered) is a professional intern level classification in which incumbents must possess a Marriage, Family Therapist Intern or an Associate Clinical Social Worker License.  Work is performed within the limits of licensing and professional standards.  Clinicians use established clinical methods and procedures for client assessment, planning and implementation of treatment plans, and non-medical psychotherapy.  Clients served suffer from serious and persistent emotional, mental and/or substance abuse problems.  The work is performed in accordance with the requirements as mental health professionals with certain decisions and actions requiring sign-off by licensed staff.

The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill part-time and full-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur or the need arises.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Experience:  No experience required.  

Education/Training:  Possession of a Master’s degree in a field of study approved by the California State Board of Behavioral Science Examiners.

AND  

Acceptance by the California State Board of Behavioral Science Examiners as a candidate for licensure (registered intern/associate) as either a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (MFTI) or Associate Licensed Clinical Social Worker (ALCSW).

Driver’s License: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Class C Driver’s License may be required at the time of appointment.  Loss of the Class C Driver’s License is a cause for discipline.  Individuals who do not meet this driver’s license requirement due to a physical disability will be considered for accommodation on a case-by-case basis.

Assignment Requirements: Some positions in these classes may require work in an out-station location or in a setting with other professionals integrated as a team.

Psychotherapy: Incumbents provide non-medical psychotherapy to clients in accordance with State law and regulation as individual licensing permits.

Independent travel may be required to various work sites and client residences.

Candidates for some positions in this class will be required to pass a background investigation in accordance with applicable law, regulation, and/or policy.

Selectees for employment must, as a condition of employment, sign a statement agreeing to comply with mandatory child and elder abuse reporting, drug free workforce, and confidentiality.

BENEFITS

Solano County offers a comprehensive benefit package to full and part-time employees which includes a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits offered through CalPERS. The County contributes 75% of the Kaiser family rate for the Bay area for coverage that begins the first of the month following date of hire. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only medical coverage or those who waive medical insurance coverage. Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.

Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement, and contributes to Social Security.

Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 78 full time pay periods (approximately 3 years). Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year. Additionally, the County observes 12 fixed, paid holidays per year.

Selection Process
