The Position

The District Attorney of Solano County invites you to apply for the position of Deputy District Attorney II-IV. Deputy District Attorneys practice criminal/civil law in the prosecution of individuals accused of violating state and local laws.

The District Attorney's Office is recruiting for a full-time regular position. The eligible list created as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill part-time and full-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur in the District Attorney's Office.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

EXPERIENCE: 
 

Deputy District Attorney II ($7,322.55 - $8,900.66/month): a minimum of six months of criminal prosecution and trial experience as a Deputy District Attorney I or its equivalent which demonstrates possession of and competency in requisite knowledge and abilities. Three years in the general practice of law may be substituted for the six months criminal law experience. 

Deputy District Attorney III ($8,420.98 - $10,235.80/month): a minimum of one year of criminal prosecution and trial experience as a Deputy District Attorney II or its equivalent (a total of 1.5 years of criminal prosecution and trial experience as a Deputy District Attorney) which demonstrates possession of and competency in requisite knowledge and abilities. Four years experience in the general practice of law may be substituted for the two years of criminal law experience.

Deputy District Attorney IV ($9,686.05 - $11,773.44/month): a minimum of one year of criminal prosecution and trial experience as a Deputy District Attorney III or its equivalent (a total of 2.5 years of criminal prosecution and trial experience as a Deputy District Attorney) which demonstrates possession of and competency in requisite knowledge and abilities. Five years experience in the general practice of law may be substituted for the three years criminal law experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Active membership in the California State Bar Association is required.

BENEFITS

n Solano County offers a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. The County contribution for family coverage for the 2015 calendar year is $1,393.18 per month. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only or who waive medical insurance coverage.

n Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.  

 

n Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement and contributes to Social Security.  

 

n Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 3 years. Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year.

 

n The County observes 12 fixed, paid holidays per year. 

 

n Effective July 1 of each year, employees are granted 64 hours of Attorney Time Off.  

 

n Employees are eligible to receive an additional 2.5% longevity pay, per level, after the completion of continuous service at 10, 20, 25, and 30 years.

 

The bargaining agreement for this position expires on September 28, 2015.  The Union is currently in bargaining with the County for wage, hours, benefits and other working conditions for employment.

Special Requirements

Active membership in the California State Bar Association is required.

Independent travel may be required.

Positions allocated to this class are exempt from the provisions of the County's Civil Service ordinances. Incumbents are hired and retained at the pleasure of the appointing authority.

Incumbents may be required to work outside normal business hours.

Candidates for positions in this class will be required to pass a background investigation in accordance with applicable law, regulation and/or policy.
