The Position

As a Staff Analyst, under general supervision you would perform professional analytical work in a wide variety of consultative and analytical assignments within the Administrative Division of the Department.  Assignments may include program evaluation, planning, budgeting, reporting and report writing, grant administration, contract development or supporting the implementation of systems.  The position provides a vital role in leveraging efficiencies and effectiveness with solutions and outcomes.

The eligible list created as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill full-time and part-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur throughout the County. 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

Experience: One (1) year of responsible professional work experience equivalent to the functions performed by a Staff Analyst (Entry) within the particular field of expertise required  

Education:  Bachelor’s degree is required from an accredited college or university, preferably in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance or a related field.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS


Independent travel may be required.

 

Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Class C California driver's license may be required.

 

Candidates for position in this class may be required to pass a background investigation in accordance with applicable law, regulations and/or policy.

BENEFITS

Solano County offers a comprehensive benefit package to full and part-time employees which includes a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits offered through CalPERS. The County contributes 75% of the Kaiser family rate for the Bay area for coverage that begins the first of the month following date of hire. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only medical coverage or those who waive medical insurance coverage. Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.

 

Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement, and contributes to Social Security.

 

Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 78 full time pay periods (approximately 3 years). Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year. Additionally, the County observes 12 fixed, paid holidays per year.

 

Effective July 1 of each year, employees are granted 80 hours of Administrative Leave.

 

Employees in this class are also eligible to receive an additional 2.5% longevity pay, per level, after the completion of continuous service at 10, 20, 25, and 30 years.

Selection Process

Based on the information provided in the application documents and answers to the supplemental questions, the best qualified applicants will be invited for further examination. Veterans Preference Points

To be eligible, applicants must have served at least 181 consecutive days of active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States and have received either an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions. A copy of the DD214, showing discharge type, must be received in the Human Resources Department by the final filing date.
