The Position

This is a County-wide promotional recruitment and is open to current Solano County employees only.

The Public Works Operations Manager plans, organizes, and directs the operations of the functions and activities of the Operations Division, and serves as a member of the department's management team. 

This is a single position class managing the construction, repair and maintenance of County roads, bridges and flood control facilities.  The incumbent is also responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy construction equipment and the installation and maintenance of traffic signs and markings. 

The current vacancy exists in the Department of Resource Management for a regular full-time position.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Experience: Five (5) years of progressively responsible road maintenance and construction experience that includes considerable supervision, budgeting and planning experience;

AND

Education/Training:
 Vocational technical training in road maintenance and construction;

AND

License: Possession of a valid Class C California driver’s license is required;

AND

Other: Must be a current Solano County employee.

BENEFITS

n Solano County offers a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. The County contribution for family coverage for the 2015 calendar year is $1,393.18 per month. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only or who waive medical insurance coverage. 

n Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.  

n Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement and contributes to Social Security.  

n Vacation is accrued at approximately 15 days per year for the first 10 years. Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year. Effective July 1 of each year, employees are granted 80 hours of Administrative Leave.

n The County observes 12 fixed, paid holidays per year.  

n Employees are eligible to receive an additional 2.5% longevity pay, per level, after the completion of continuous service at 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years.

Vocational technical training in road maintenance and construction is required. All candidates must submit a copy of their official/unofficial transcripts (verifying the courses and units completed).  Candidates who fail to submit their transcripts by the final filing date will be disqualified from the recruitment, unless otherwise specified in the job announcement.
