The Office of Family Violence Prevention is a unit within Solano County's District Attorney's Office.  The mission of the Office of Family Violence Prevention is to further the success of family violence prevention and intervention efforts in Solano County. 

The Office of Family Violence Prevention Goals are to:

  • Promote Interagency Coordination in Solano County
  • Work with County Departments Regarding Issues of Family Violence
  • Mobilize Resources to Bring Additional Needed Funding to Public and Private Organizations to Combat Family Violence
  • Create and Conduct Public Awareness Campaign to Increase Education of Family Violence Prevention and Available Resources
  • Monitor and Analyze Legislation and Make Recommendations to the Board of Supervisors and Coordinating Councils
  • Collect and Encourage Data Collection on Family Violence Incidents in Solano County

The Position

Under supervision, the Assistant Family Violence Prevention Coordinator assists with planning, organizing and coordinating the County’s Family Violence Prevention Program, and assists in coordinating activities in the community for family violence prevention, identification, education and support.

This position is expect to function as the assistant of all aspects of the program, and develop County strategies to assist in raising awareness and reducing family violence incidents.

The Office of Family Violence Prevention is currently recruiting for a full-time limited-term position. 

The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill part-time and full-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur or the need arises. 

This position is "at-will" senior management position and is exempt from the civil service; incumbents serve at the discretion of the appointing authority.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferably in the Social Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, Human Relations, Criminal Justice or other related field;

AND

Experience: Two years of professional level experience coordinating, facilitating, or researching community social services programs, health activities and/or collaboratives. The experience must have included report writing, and grant writing, or facilitation of grants. 

Note: A Master's Degree may be substituted for one year of the experience.

BENEFITS

n Solano County offers a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. The County contribution for family coverage for the 2015 calendar year is $1,393.18 per month. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only or who waive medical insurance coverage.

 

n Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.  

 

n Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement and contributes to Social Security.  

 

n Vacation is accrued at approximately 15 days per year for the first 10 years. Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year. Effective July 1 of each year, employees are granted 80 hours of Administrative Leave.

 

n The County observes 12 fixed, paid holidays per year. 

 

n Employees are eligible to receive an additional 2.5% longevity pay, per level, after the completion of continuous service at 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 35 years.
