The Emergency Medical Services Bureau is responsible for:

• Communicable Disease Program/STD/HIV Surveillance
• Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
• Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR)

The Health Services Administrator plans, organizes and directs one or more major specialized public health programs and assists the Deputy Director in division administration and serves as a member of the department's management team.

The Health Services Administrator is responsible for the management of one or more public health program(s) and for assisting the Deputy Director in planning and organizing overall operations.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Experience

Five years of progressively responsible experience in the delivery of community public health as a Nurse or Health Educator that includes direct program management and supervision of professional staff coupled with experience in public administration including budget preparation, program planning/evaluation and supervision.

Education

Bachelor's degree is required from an accredited college or university preferably with a major in Public Health, Business or Public Administration, Nursing or a related field. A Master's degree in public health, or certificate in PH Nursing, Registered Dietitian, or a license as Clinical Nurse Specialist or Nurse Practitioner issued by the California State Board of Nursing preferred.

1. Describe your experience performing medical and health branch chief functions during catastrophic event and/or natural disaster emergency medical response efforts.
2. Describe the incident command and/or emergency medical management functions you performed during the Ebola pandemic response.
3. Describe your experience in certifying Emergency Medical Service personnel for a jurisdiction or county.
4. Describe your experience in analyzing legislation, and/or developing and implementing emergency medical management related regulations, ordinances, resolutions, policies, procedures.
5. Describe your experience developing and overseeing emergency medical preparedness and response related grant and cooperative agreement applications, work-plans, budgets, and progress reports.

To be eligible, applicant must have served at least 181 consecutive days of active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States and have received either an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions.  A copy of the DD214, showing discharge type, must be received in the Human Resources Department by the final filing date.
