Introduction

Current Solano County Probation Department employees are encouraged to apply for this promotional opportunity.

The Position

The Probation Department believes that its employees are the most valuable resource. Deputy Probation Officers in Solano County provide supervision and investigatory services of both juveniles and adults.  The overarching goal of the Probation Department is to reduce recidivism through positive behavior change.

The Senior Deputy Probation Officer performs the more difficult and specialized professional level casework involving the initial evaluation or intensive supervision of adult and/or juvenile offenders.  Cases assigned to the Senior Deputy Probation Officer are more difficult and typically require regular crisis intervention. Decisions made by professionals in this class have more serious consequences for both the offender and the public.  Incumbents may also perform specialized assignments such as formulating treatment programs, overseeing outside treatment programs, handling juvenile intake, early release, child custody, career criminal or other such casework.
