The Position

The current vacancy exists in the DoIT Health & Social Services Support Unit.  The Information Technology Specialist (Senior) performs advanced level technical support and assistance to users of multiple data business systems within Health & Social Services Department; acts as lead to other IT Specialists and user teams in the implementation and maintenance of various specialized and computerized systems; provides technical and specialized hardware and software support to users; performs a variety of business and administrative functions relative to information technology.  

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Experience:  Three (3) years of full time work experience involving information system implementation, maintenance, and management, network systems administration, and technical support.

Education/Training:  An Associate's degree is required, including eighteen (18) units, in Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Networking or a closely related field OR one hundred twenty (120) hours (fifteen days) of designated coursework and/or certification training.

BENEFITS

Solano County offers a comprehensive benefit package to full and part-time employee which includes a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. Medical insurance is effective the first of the month following date of hire.  The County contribution for family coverage for the 2014 calendar year is $1,448.30 per month. If the medical plan costs are less than $1,448.30 per month, employees will receive the difference as taxable earnings to a maximum of $334.58. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only or who waive medical insurance coverage. Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.  

Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement and contributes to Social Security.  

Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 78 full-time pay periods (approximately three years). Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year. Additionally, the County observes 12 fixed, paid holidays per year.  

Employees are eligible to receive an additional 2.5% longevity pay, per level, after the completion of continuous service at 10, 20, 25, and 30 years. Employees may receive credit for prior years of service employed with California cities, counties, joint power authorities, and other special districts as approved by the Director of Human Resources and the County Administrator.
