The Health and Social Services (H&SS) Department’s responsibilities include providing health, mental health, substance abuse and social services to the community as well as administering federal, state and local public assistance programs.  

The Position

The Public Health Nurse Manager is a member of the Health and Social Services Department’s management team. The current opening provides management oversight over public health services in the Older and Disabled Adult Services Division, as well as Adult Protective Services, and In-Home Support Services.  As the incumbent you will oversee approximately 65 staff, ensure a Coordinated Care Services Delivery System is maintained and developed under the regulations  of the Affordable Care Act, make policy recommendations to the Deputy Director, and participates in State planning meetings to develop program guidelines. You will work closely with local hospitals and healthcare providers to maximize opportunities for One Stop Access for seniors and the disabled in the community.  

Position requirements:

Experience: Three years of general public health or mental health nursing experience, depending on the area of assignment, which includes one year of supervisory and/or program coordinator responsibility.

Education: A Bachelor’s degree is required from an accredited college or university in Public Health or Nursing Administration. A Master’s degree is desirable.

Special requirements: Possession of a valid Registered Nurse license issued by California Board of Registered Nursing. Possession of a California State Public Health nursing certificate for positions allocated to the Public Health section of the nursing Division.  Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Class C California driver’s license may be required. Must possess current CPR card.

BENEFITS

Solano County offers a comprehensive benefit package to full and part-time employees which includes a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits offered through CalPERS. The County contributes 75% of the Kaiser family rate for the Bay area for coverage that begins the first of the month following date of hire. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only medical coverage or those who waive medical insurance coverage.
Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County. Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement, and contributes to Social Security.
Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 78 full time pay periods (approximately 3 years). Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year. Additionally, the County observes 12 fixed, paid holidays per year.
