Solano County welcomes applications for the position of Project Manager. We currently have openings in the Department of Health and Social Services (HSS) in the divisions of Mental Health, Public Health, and Administration.

The mission of Solano County Department of Health and Social Services is to promote cost-effective services, which safeguard the physical, emotional, and social well being of the people of Solano County.

The Position

The Project Manager plays an integral role in supporting the mission of the department by its management responsibility over a variety of administrative and fiscal activities. You will manage an assigned project or projects within your assigned department or division, and will participate in the implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities. You will assist in ensuring compliance with laws, regulations and professional standards.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Experience: Three (3) years of professional level, public or private sector administrative experience involving fiscal, operational, and/or legislative analysis.  

Education: Bachelor’s degree is required from an accredited college or university, preferably in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Political Science, or closely related field.  A Master’ degree is desirable.  

BENEFITS

Solano County offers a comprehensive benefit package to full and part-time employees which includes a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits offered through CalPERS. The County contributes 75% of the Kaiser family rate for the Bay area for coverage that begins the first of the month following date of hire. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only medical coverage or those who waive medical insurance coverage.

Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.

Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement, and contributes to Social Security.

Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 78 full time pay periods (approximately 3 years). Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year. Additionally, the County observes 12 fixed, paid holidays per year.

Selection Process

Based on the information provided in the application documents, the best qualified applicants will be invited for further examination. 3. Please detail your work experience in interpreting political and administrative direction and incorporating it into operational policy and procedures. Please provide an example of a recent legislative change, and your response to it.

Veterans Preference Points

To be eligible, applicant must have served at least 181 consecutive days of active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States and have received either an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions.  A COPY OF THE DD 214, SHOWING DISCHARGE TYPE, MUST BE RECEIVED IN THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT BY THE FINAL FILING DATE.  Applicants who have a service connected disability must submit a recent award letter from the VA stating they are receiving disability benefits for service connected reasons.  Disability must be rated at least 10% to be eligible for disabled veteran's points.
