THE POSITION

Under general supervision, Staff Analysts in the Sheriff's Office perform professional analytical work in a wide variety of consultative and analytical assignments within the Administrative Division of the Department.  Assignments are conducted in the landscape of team spirit and may include program evaluation, planning, budgeting, reporting and report writing, grant administration, contract development or supporting the implementation of systems.  The position provides a vital role in leveraging efficiencies and effectiveness with solutions and outcomes. 

The eligible list created as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill part-time and full-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur throughout the County.  

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS  

Experience: One (1) year of responsible professional work experience equivalent to the functions performed by a Staff Analyst (Entry) within the particular field of expertise required  

Education:  Bachelor’s degree is required from an accredited college or university, preferably in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance or a related field.

BENEFITS

Solano County offers a comprehensive benefit package to full and part-time employee which includes a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. Medical insurance is effective the first of the month following date of hire.  The County contribution for family coverage for the 2014 calendar year is $1,448.30 per month. If the medical plan costs are less than $1,448.30 per month, employees will receive the difference as taxable earnings to a maximum of $334.58. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only or who waive medical insurance coverage. Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.  

Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement and contributes to Social Security.  

Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 78 full-time pay periods (approximately three years). Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year. Additionally, the County observes 12 fixed, paid holidays per year.  

Employees are eligible to receive an additional 2.5% longevity pay, per level, after the completion of continuous service at 10, 20, 25, and 30 years.

To be eligible, applicants must have served at least 181 consecutive days of active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States and have received either an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions.
