The Position

This is the entry level in the Staff Analyst series that is expected to perform professional level staff work under training. Incumbents learn County practices and the operations and activities of the Department/Division to which they are assigned.  Incumbents apply professional knowledge and implement operating procedures. Employees initially work under immediate supervision, progressing to general supervision as the incumbent becomes able to independently perform the full range of duties associated with this level. Positions in this classification are flexibly staffed to the journey level and are expected to demonstrate the necessary knowledge and abilities for promotion within eighteen (18) months.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Experience: One (1) year of full time work experience involving office administration, accounting or bookkeeping, and personal computer operations. 
  
Education: Bachelor’s degree is required from an accredited college or university, preferably in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, or closely related field.

BENEFITS

Solano County offers a comprehensive benefit package to full and part-time employee which includes a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. Medical insurance is effective the first of the month following date of hire.  The County contribution for family coverage for the 2014 calendar year is $1,448.30 per month. If the medical plan costs are less than $1,448.30 per month, employees will receive the difference as taxable earnings to a maximum of $334.58. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only or who waive medical insurance coverage. Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.  

Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement and contributes to Social Security.  

Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 78 full-time pay periods (approximately three years). Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year. Additionally, the County observes 12 fixed, paid holidays per year.  

Employees are eligible to receive an additional 2.5% longevity pay, per level, after the completion of continuous service at 10, 20, 25, and 30 years.

Veterans Preference Points

To be eligible, applicants must have served at least 181 consecutive days of active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States and have received either an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions.
