The Deputy Sheriff Trainee position is a trainee level law enforcement position.  An employee is this classification receives intensive academic instruction and rigorous physical training in law enforcement at a California Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Certified Academy and receives other assignments on a training basis to learn the departmental policies and procedures.  

Upon successful completion of the Police Academy trainees will be sworn in as Peace Officers and promoted to the entry-level classification of Deputy Sheriff I-Academy Certified.  Deputy Sheriff I – Academy Certifides are assigned a Field Training Officer and begin a 6 month training phase.
