Under the general direction of the Substance Abuse Treatment Services (SATS) Supervisor, this position works in Substance Abuse Treatment Services (SATS), with clients who have multiple diagnoses including substance abuse, mental illness, and/or AIDS/HIV.
SHIFT: Varies. Monday through Friday; Possible weekdays. Evening and weekend hours may be required.
The essential job functions of the 2930 Psychiatric Social Worker include the following:
· Possession of a valid Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) OR
· Current registration as an Associate Social Worker (ASW) with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS)
Special Condition: This condition requires one (1) year of experience providing direct substance abuse treatment.
· Two (2) years verifiable experience as a mental health clinician.
· Significant experience in treating persons with substance abuse, mental health and AIDS/HIV issues.
· Ability to work effectively with persons having concomitant mental health and substance abuse disorders.
· Significant experience in providing substance abuse treatment to cognitively impaired individuals.
· Experience conducting Harm Reduction, Seeking Safety, Relapse Prevention, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Groups.
· Demonstrated cultural competency working with diverse cultures and communities.
· Skill in teaching and supervising staff and interns in performing clinical interventions.
· Knowledge of best practices for interventions with severely mentally ill and substance abusers.
· Ability to work cooperatively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
· Prior hospital experience highly desirable.
