The purpose of this announcement is to fill a vacant position in this classification. 

 

PROJECT DESIGN/JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under general administrative direction, the Project Manager II will plan, organize, direct, and manage the project controls for the Central Subway Project. This project extends the Third Street Light Rail Transit Project through a new underground subway to Chinatown. The new light rail line is a 1.7 mile rail extension to Chinatown. The proposed subway project begins at 4th Street and King traveling northward, continues underground at a portal between Brannan and Harrison Streets, and terminates at the Chinatown station at Clay and Stockton Street. In addition to the Chinatown Station, the other stations include the Moscone Station, the Market Street Station, and the Brannan surface station.

 

The Central Subway project will involve contracting to sub-consultants who will be providing services in the detail design and construction phases of the project.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Possession of a bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture or planning plus six (6) years of responsible engineering, architectural, or construction management experience; OR
  2. Possession of a bachelor’s degree in another field, plus eight (8) years of responsible experience in a field directly related to the project; OR
  3. Ten (10) years engineering, architectural, or construction management experience in a field directly related to the project; OR
  4. Valid California Registration as a Professional Engineer or Architect, plus two (2) years of project coordination experience or resident engineer experience ; AND
  5. Possession of a valid driver’s license.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Ability to complete work efficiently, on schedule and within budget.

·        Knowledge of the need to understand the schedule constraints and what elements should be included in the project scope.

·        Excellent organizational and communication skills that are critical to obtaining approvals, and managing the budget, schedule, and multidisciplinary engineering, procurement, and construction teams.

·        Understanding of engineering and/or project management principles, contract law, budgeting, negotiations, planning, supervising others, and experience making public presentations.

Disaster Service Workers

All City and County of San Francisco employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the City requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.

Benefits

All employees hired on or after January 10, 2009 will be required (pursuant to San Francisco Charter Section A8.432) to contribute 2% of pre-tax compensation to fund retiree healthcare.
