The essential functions of this class include: providing information and direction on the use of library resources; performing reference work; supervising technical and clerical staff; performing selection, acquisition, cataloging or processing of library materials; writing letters, memos, reports, publications and other documents; participating in the development of collections in accordance with the San Francisco Public Library Collection Development Plan; interpreting library policy and responding to suggestions and inquiries; and assisting in policy formulation and implementation. Positions may also be responsible for developing positive community relations, and preparing programming and exhibitions. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: A Librarian I hired at the entry level step will receive a 5% step increase in pay after six months of service. The City & County of San Francisco anticipates frequent openings for entry-level librarian positions.
