The Community Development Resource Agency - Building Division is currently recruiting for anticipated future permanent and extra help/ temporary entry level Building Inspector I positions. Permanent positions will be full time and benefited and are located in Auburn. As stated in this job posting, candidates must possess at least three years of building trade experience as well as a valid driver's license.
THIS RECRUITMENT WILL CLOSE 5:00 PM SUNDAY, JULY 31, 2016.
To review building plans and conduct inspections of residential and commercial buildings under construction or being remodeled; to determine compliance of plans and of buildings under construction with applicable State and County codes and standards.
This is the entry level class in the Building Inspection series. This class is distinguished from the journey by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgement on matters allocated to the journey level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or no directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.
Receives immediate supervision from management or supervisory staff; may receive technical or functional supervision from other technical or professional staff.

Experience: Three years of building trades experience.
Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training in the building trades or construction technology is desirable.

Based upon responses to the supplemental questionnaire, the applicant’s education, training and experience will be evaluated using a pre-determined formula. Scores from this evaluation will determine applicant ranking and placement on the eligible list.
All applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be required to respond to an online Conviction History Questionnaire, which will be sent as a link on their notification that minimum qualifications have been met. Failure to respond to this questionnaire within (3) three calendar days of the minimum qualification notification will result in disqualification from the examination.
All new permanent employees, with the exception of sworn law enforcement and management, shall be required to join the employee organization or pay an 'Agency Fee' as a condition of employment.
The eligible list(s) resulting from this recruitment may be certified as a substitute list for a substantially similar classification. For this purpose, a substantially similar classification is one at a lower level in the same classification (example: entry level vs. journey) and/or a similar classification (similar work performed, similar training and experience qualifications required). If you are contacted for an interview by a County department, you will be informed of the classification and other relevant information. If you choose not to interview for a substantially similar classification, you will remain on the eligible list for which you originally applied.
