THIS RECRUITMENT IS OPEN TO PERMANENT PLACER COUNTY EMPLOYEES ONLY.
This position works within the Building Maintenance Division of Facility Services. Duties include planning, organizing, directing and supervising staff that perform countywide minor repair and alterations; supervising all custodial services; supervising shipping, receiving and material inventory; and contract administration of approximately $1.9 million per year. This position also coordinates work activities with other work units, divisions, departments, and outside contractors.
To plan, organize, direct and supervise an assigned building maintenance work unit within the Building Maintenance Division of the Facility Services Department; to coordinate work unit activities with other work units, sections, divisions, departments, and outside contractors; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
The Supervisor level recognizes positions that perform full first-line supervision including planning, assigning, monitoring and evaluating the work of subordinates and are responsible for ensuring the success and effectiveness of an assigned work unit within the Building Maintenance Division.
Receives general direction from a Senior Supervising Building Crafts Mechanic and/or management staff. Exercises direct supervision over assigned building maintenance and custodial staff.

Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible work experience performing duties similar to a Senior Building Crafts Mechanic with Placer County.
Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by course work in building trades, general construction management, project management, supervisionor a related field.

Based upon responses to the supplemental questionnaire, the applicant’s education, training and experience will be evaluated using a pre-determined formula. Scores from this evaluation will determine applicant ranking and placement on the eligible list.

Prior to the date of hire, applicants must undergo a fingerprint test by the Department of Justice, pass a medical examination, which may include a drug screening and possibly a psychological evaluation, sign a constitutional oath and submit proof of U.S. citizenship or legal right to remain and work in the U.S. For some positions, applicants may also be required to submit proof of age, undergo a background investigation and/or be bonded.
All new permanent employees, with the exception of sworn law enforcement and management, shall be required to join the employee organization or pay an 'Agency Fee' as a condition of employment.
