This recruitment will remain open until either the first 200 applications
have been submitted or until the filing deadline, whichever occurs first.
There are currently two permanent full time vacancies; one is in the Auditor-Controller's Office and one is in the Facility Services Department. However, the resulting eligible list will be used to fill both open and promotional vacancies in various County departments as they arise, subject to specific position requirements and CEO approval.
Temporary/Extra Help assignments are limited to 999 hours (or 960 hours for CalPERS retired annuitants) in a fiscal year and are not eligible for benefits.
Appointments made from this eligible list may transition to permanent status, should vacancies arise, with the approval from the County Executive Officer.
The position in the Auditor-Controller's Office will be responsible for printing and distributing auditor warrants. This position serves as the final review before payments leave the office to ensure payment amounts and recipients are accurate. This position also prints and distributes welfare and payroll warrants, completes reconciliations, prepares affidavits, reissues warrants, tracks stale canceled warrants, provides maintenance of files and scanning/quality control of documents.
The position in the Facility Services Department is responsible for processing various types of accounts payable (Blanket Purchase Orders, Sub Purchase Orders, Purchase Orders and Contracts), payroll for three divisions, daily deposits into Performance Accounting Financial System (PAS), and journal entries.
To perform difficult and responsible clerical work involving financial recordkeeping and statistical records; to review and reconcile financial and budget reports with source documents, invoices, purchase orders and other materials; to process financial and statistical documents, such as purchase orders, payroll time reports and statistical reports; and to receive and reconcile revenues and disbursements.
This is the full journey level class within the Account Clerk series. This class is distinguished from the Account Clerk - Entry by the performance of the full range of duties. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the entry level.
This class is distinguished from the Senior Account Clerk level in that the latter is an advanced journey level that provides functional and technical lead supervision over Account Clerks and/or performs the most difficult and complex work requiring specialized technical or functional expertise and are assigned specialized duties.
Receives general supervision from assigned supervisory or management personnel and may receive technical and functional supervision from a Senior Account Clerk.

Experience: Two years of responsible experience in keeping and reviewing financial records.
Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training in bookkeeping, accounting or a related field is desirable.

The written examination is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, July 9th, 2013, and/or Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Roseville Veteran's Memorial Hall: 110 Park Drive, Roseville, CA 95678. If you meet the minimum qualifications you will be notified via email regarding the time.

The eligible list(s) resulting from this recruitment may be certified as a substitute list for a substantially similar classification. For this purpose, a substantially similar classification is one at a lower level in the same classification (example: entry level vs. journey) and/or a similar classification (similar work performed, similar training and experience qualifications required).
