The Information Services Division (ISD) is seeking a full-time Data Analyst for our Oklahoma City location. This is an unclassified position within Oklahoma state government. In addition to a comprehensive Benefits Packet the annual salary for this position is between $55,965 - $65,965 based on education and experience.
Position Purpose: In support of the Education Business Segment, the Data Analyst will be responsible for all reporting aspects for the State Department of Education through EDFacts. This position will be responsible for the long term improvement of data collection, the day to day tasks of collecting data for reporting, developing extracts of the data for submission to USDE, and the following up of questions from USDE about data and reports. The high level objectives of this position are to automate the generation of EDEN data submissions, develop faster and higher quality state and federal reporting, more efficient and effective resource and data management. This position will also be responsible for other non-EDFacts data requests submitted by the State Legislatures, agency specific staff members, and the public. This could include learning to create cubes, dashboards, and other tools to assist these customers in viewing the data in meaningful ways.
Reviewing USDE and State reporting rules and regulations, for compliance.
Developing strategies to automate the generation of EDEN data submissions and maintain the system of automation.
Maintaining the reporting calendar and reporting files.
Analyzing how OSDE data can be used to meet EDEN/EDFacts and State reporting requirements.
Reporting progress of reporting initiatives and escalates problems as needed to appropriate supervisors.
Identifying issues with meeting EDEN/EDFacts requirements and coordinating issue resolution
Submitting OSDE’s electronic data files to the EDEN portal
Representing Oklahoma at EDEN/EDFacts meetings and to Federal EDEN/EDFacts resources
Developing strategies for integration across reporting systems.
Estimating the amount of work required on project tasks assigned
Disseminating information regarding tools, reports, or metadata enhancements.
Creating cubes, dashboards and other reporting tools.
• Bachelor Degree in Business, Computer Science or an appropriate discipline from an accredited four-year college or university and two (2) or more year’s related experience and training
• An equivalent combination of education and experience
Preference may be given to applicants who possess the following:
Knowledge of US Department of Education EDFacts reporting
Experience with MS SQL: SQL2008R2
Some database experience/knowledge
Experience generating tab-delimited files with counts for specified categories, subtotals, and totals.
Experience using Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS).
Strong analysis and design skills.
Strong communications skills both orally and written.
Ability to write reports, documentation, and the ability to speak effectively before groups of business and IT personnel.
