Salary:
$2423.24 Bi-weekly (based on education and experience)

Description:
Position provides advanced health care to individuals for the Carter, Love, Jefferson and Johnston County Health Departments. This includes the assessment of individual health, analyzing data to determine medical and nursing needs, planning a treatment strategy to meet identified needs, and evaluating responses to nursing and medical interventions.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Performing comprehensive physical examinations.
• Securing health histories.
• Performing and/or ordering laboratory tests.
• Conducting other appropriate procedures in order to assess the health status of patients or clients.
• Planning a strategy to meet identified health care needs.
• Reviewing and analyzing laboratory tests and other diagnostic data.
• Prescribing types of birth control and medications for treatment.
• Counseling patients on health problems, prescribing treatments and the use of drugs.
• Providing continuity of an individualized health care program for clients.
• Referring or collaborating with physicians and other members of the health care team when needed.

Education and Work Experience:
Requirements consist of possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a Registered Nurse by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, certification as an Advanced Practice Nurse by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, and three years experience as a Registered Nurse.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
Knowledge of the human anatomy, physiology, and chemistry; of medical diagnosis techniques, methods, and procedures; of the theory, principles, and practices of nursing, of health care delivery systems; of methods and procedures of laboratory diagnosis techniques; of pharmaceutical agents, their usage, and contraindications; of minor surgical procedures and techniques; of safety and safety practices; and of medical management techniques. Ability is required to conduct physical examinations and health assessments; provide advanced specialized nursing care; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; instruct and counsel clients;  interview and obtain medical information;  exercise sound, independent judgment;  analyze complex situations and adopt appropriate courses of action.

Other:
Position requires possible response to public health emergencies including, but not limited to, natural disasters, disease outbreaks, or catastrophic events.   The Oklahoma State Department of Health is tobacco free.  Employees are prohibited from using tobacco products throughout all indoor and outdoor areas of premises under the control of the Oklahoma State Department of Health, in all vehicles on those premises, and in state vehicles in use for OSDH business anywhere.  Applicants may be subject to a background check.
