There are two types of recruitments: Closed Promotional and Open Competitive. Closed Promotional recruitments and Open Competitive recruitments are independent of each other.  Closed Promotional recruitments are for tenured County employees ONLY and can be found by clicking the 'Internal Jobs' link from the menu above.  Open Competitive recruitments can be found by clicking the 'Current Job Openings' link from the above menu.  You can tell which recruitment process you are applying for by looking at the recruitment code under each job title listed. Recruitment codes look like this: A0104-00-o12345. If the letter after the second dash is an 'o' then the recruitment is Open Competitive, and if the letter is a 'c' then the recruitment is Closed Promotional (internal candidates only).  If you are a tenured County employee and apply for a 'Closed Promotional' (internal) recruitment and want to be considered for the same classification under an Open Competitive recruitment, then you must submit a separate application to us through the Open Competitive recruitment process. The Hillsborough County Civil Service system uses a shared service model to fill vacancies from distributed eligibility lists. This means that agencies share eligibility lists, and you may be hired by an agency other than the one listed at the top of the job bulletin.  Therefore, you are encouraged to apply for jobs that interest you regardless of the agency or department indicated.

If you applied more than 60 days ago for an Open recruitment that is now 'extended,' and you would like to re-apply, then click 'My Applications' link above, log-in, and then click the re-apply button where indicated.

The Civil Service Office will not receive nor review your 'Application-On-File'.  Use the application on file to store your employment and educational information. When you see a job that interests you, copy your application on file into the new job specific application and submit the job specific application to us. In most cases you should select your Application On File as the application to copy information from, but you may also select another application if you have more than one in your account.  If you fill out an 'Application On File' and submit it to us thinking you are applying for a specific job, then be aware that you have NOT applied for anything and will not be considered for that job.
