MAJOR FUNCTION

Performs duties providing services to elderly persons participating in an Adult Day Care Program.

MAJOR DUTIES

Note: The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Depending on assigned area of responsibility, incumbents in the position may perform some or all of the activities described below.
  • Provides personal care services to elderly participants.
  • Provides information and referral services to clients.
  • Assists in serving meals and snacks.
  • Assists in providing social, health, recreation, and entertainment programs.
  • May transport participants and volunteers to and from designated places.
  • Prepares and maintains records, reports, and charts.
  • Assists in the maintenance of center facilities.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

  • Some knowledge of elderly care.
  • Some knowledge of programs and services provided to the elderly.
  • Ability to understand and work with the elderly.
  • Ability to communicate orally with others.
  • Ability to work effectively with others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of the 10th grade.

APPOINTING AUTHORITY MAY REQUIRE

Possession of a valid Drivers License.

Civil Service Board Review for Minimum Qualifications and Supporting Documentation.
  
STEP #3
Pre-Screen Status Notification via Email: Pending, Qualified, OR Not-Qualified.
  
STEP #4
If Required: Invited to our office for written and/or performance testing.
  
STEP #5
Placed on Eligibility list ONLY if ALL Minimum Qualifications are met AND all required documentation has been submitted and processed.
  
STEP #6
During the recruitment period the Civil Service Board will ONLY send qualified candidate names to the Hiring Agency/Department.
  
STEP #7
Hiring Agency/Department will review Eligibility list.
  
STEP #8
Hiring Agency/Department may invite candidates from the associated Eligibility List to interview for the position.
  
Notice:
Qualified Candidates will normally remain on the Closed Promotional Eligibility List for 60 Days, and the Open Competitive Eligibility List for 90 Days.

Conclusion

SPECIAL NOTE: (Restricted) Appointment is due to an authorized absence of the incumbent. The person hired receives all rights and benefits of the classified service except the right of tenure in the event the absent incumbent returns to this position.

 

OPEN AND CLOSED RECRUITMENTS:  We are running concurrent Closed (Internal) and Open recruitments. Internal candidates on a closed eligibility list must be considered first, prior to a selection being made from the open eligibility list. To be considered for the same classification under Open recruitment, internal candidates must also apply under the open recruitment process.

 

VETERANS' PREFERENCE:  Preference will ONLY be entitled upon initial appointment for eligible veterans and eligible spouses of veterans. Documentation to support entitlement to preference MUST be provided at the time of application.
